No. 7 — Mascot Digital Reading Room
March 2020, ongoing

Our creative community has been at the top of our minds through all of this sudden change, as we collectively find ourselves navigating these uncertain and ever-shifting times. The importance that spaces hold and the opportunities for being together is not to be taken for granted, as we've been quickly reminded through our social distancing.

Like many of you, we've found solace in revisiting our libraries—sharing text and images from books that provide comfort or inspiration amid the solitude. In January of 2018 we held our 3rd project, Mascot Reading Room, as a way to shift our focus for the new year, connect over books, and share some self-published works by friends. In the spirit of this current focus shift, we'd like to invite you to contribute to our 7th project: Mascot Digital Reading Room

To participate, share a photo (linked) that you've taken from a text that's resonating with you at the moment. This should be an excerpt from the actual text, poem, image, or passage, as opposed to the cover of the book. Please include the title and author so it is easy for others to find or reference. If you are would like to share your own work, please do so. The goal is for the collected imagery to feel like we are reading together. A phone photo or a screengrab (if the text is digital) both work. Submit to our Google Form (linked), where we will be collecting shared imagery daily and organizing below. We would also like to use this as an opportunity to link independent book stores (not Amazon), publishers and artists who are taking a huge financial hit with the sudden closing of so many businesses. Feel free to include a link to where the book can be found in the world.

Share as often as you’d like. Share this prompt with your community.
